WALL DRAWINGS at FUORISALONE 2011
“The artist and the draftsman become collaborators in making the art.”
Sol Le Witt
Few months ago I discovered Lewitt art during color design researches at Colordesigners studio in Milan.
One of most important task at the studio is to give color and paint companies a breakthrough communicating their skill and values.
This year during the Fuorisalone in Milan Colordesigners designed an event whit CAP Arreghini, a leader paint company in Italy. So this project gave me the occasion to experiment with color and perception.
The main value of CAP products is the variety of surface they can be applied on. His product lead the three main architecture and interior surfaces: wall, wood and metal.
So I developed a live performance inspired in Lewitt art that shows tridimensional growing shapes by a skillful designed color palette.
Al the shapes are drawn using draftsman instruments, like pencils, brushes, rolls and paper tape; so people can see the generation process of a composition from measured trace to final 3d shape.
This performance was executed in a very special room, called “Light me up”. It’s a room in absence of color (thanks to special monochromatic lamps) were people can explore “real colors” through some “white light” torches.
